The duties and responsibilities of this position consists of, but are not limited to, the following:
• Responsible for Overall Development of Ocean export product Pan India and Indian Sub-continent, on volumes, yield, and GP as mutually agreed with the management.
• Responsible for customer retention of Ocean Freight products of the Organization group, especially on nomination shipments. Also Responsible for the addition of new customers to the Organization, on Ocean freight products.
• To play a pivotal role in procuring rates/space allotment from Ocean carriers, on Pan India and Indian Sub-continent basis.
1. Develop and improve relationships with carriers, to get required space and competitive rates. Identify and develop strong relationships with the Head offices of Carriers in India and also the regional offices of carriers – Travel to make and develop key relationships. To support on company’s long-term goal, to increase contract loads with carriers for better negotiations.
2. Finalizing contracts with shipping lines. Identify Four Mainlines for fixed allocations. To strategize how we can leverage the other lines for our benefit.
3. Strategize and steer the company to communicate with the shipping lines through CW1 as far as possible, for pan India and maybe annexed with PK, BD, and SL with fixed allocations and fixed rates.
• Guide Ocean pricing representative – to negotiate with carriers and to coordinate timely with colleagues/agents. Ensure Rates requests / RFQs from agents are responded to on time, and professionally.
Follow up with agents on quotes sent and obtain feedback on our rates quoted. To have clear and timely communication with agents. To work on continuous improvement of Quotes, for better business conversions.
• To develop close relationships with our Key agents who nominate Organization for business and have a long-term business development plan for identified / target customers.
• Re-organize pricing strategy and ensure plans are constantly communicated with all staff. Re-organize pricing communication with clear guidelines on how a spot quote request is handled as well as an RFQ. To have periodical meetings on this, with Ocean freight LOB heads of all Organization Stations.
To monitor and guide respective station’s Ocean freight heads ( will have dotted line reporting). To guide the team and ensure minimum service escalations. To respond timely to customer queries related to operation to avoid any escalation
• Administer regulatory / compliance requirements such as timely renewals of memberships, AMS filings, FMC Licenses, MTO Licenses, etc.
• Preparation and timely submission of monthly performance reports to the Board (with the use of CW1).
• Develop relationships with large co-loaders, who can offer attractive rates based on their contracts.
• To have periodic meetings with respective station heads on service improvements and to develop the product. The business planning is to be done at least quarterly and budgeting along with regional product heads is to be done on an annual basis.
• To Train and Develop People. Communicate effectively and constructively promptly.
