The duties and responsibilities of this position consists of, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Business Development & Revenue Growth
• Drive air freight sales and achieve regional revenue and volume targets.
• Develop new customers while expanding business with existing key accounts.
• Work closely with the sales team to design competitive air freight solutions.
• Identify new trade lanes, airlines, and product opportunities (Express, Pharma, DG, Perishables, etc.).
2. Operational Management
• Oversee end-to-end air freight operations across the region (Export, Import, Cross-trade).
• Ensure timely uplift, space allocation, and smooth cargo movement as per agreed service levels.
• Monitor daily operations to minimize delays, rollovers, and exceptions.
• Coordinate with origin/destination offices, airlines, GHA, and vendors.
3. Airline & Vendor Management
• Build and maintain strong relationships with airlines, consolidators, and handling agents.
• Negotiate rates, allotments, and service agreements to optimize costs and margins.
• Review airline performance and resolve service issues proactively.
• Ensure compliance with airline and airport regulations.
4. Team Leadership & People Management
• Lead, mentor, and develop the regional air freight team (Sales, CS, Operations).
• Define roles, KPIs, and performance targets for team members.
• Conduct regular reviews, coaching sessions, and training programs.
• Ensure adequate staffing and succession planning.
5. Customer Service & Key Account Management
• Act as an escalation point for key customers and critical shipments.
• Ensure high customer satisfaction through consistent service delivery.
• Participate in customer meetings, business reviews, and solution discussions.
• Drive retention and long-term partnerships with strategic customers.
6. Financial Control & Profitability
• Ensure the profitability of air freight operations through yield and cost control.
• Monitor GP, revenue leakage, and operational costs.
• Approve pricing, credit terms, and deviations as per company policy.
• Support the finance team on billing accuracy, collections, and dispute resolution.
7. Compliance, Documentation & Risk Management
• Ensure adherence to IATA, ICAO, DG, security, and customs regulations.
• Oversee proper documentation, including AWB, MAWB/HAWB, DG declarations, etc.
• Ensure SOPs are followed and updated regularly.
• Identify operational risks and implement preventive controls.
8. Process Improvement & SOP Implementation
• Develop, implement, and monitor SOPs for air freight operations.
• Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and improve TAT.
• Support digitalization and system enhancements related to air freight.
• Ensure audit readiness and a continuous improvement culture.
9. Coordination with Management & Reporting
• Prepare and present regular MIS, forecasts, budgets, and performance reports.
• Provide market intelligence and competitor insights to management.
• Support strategic planning and regional expansion initiatives.
• Align regional air freight strategy with overall company objectives.
